SAM CORNMAN
GLASS ARTIST (Sculptor, Creative Mind Explorer, and Poet)
Sam Cornman is an internationally recognized artist who has been blowing glass, flame working glass, casting hot glass, and creating sculpture for eight years. Sam has also been operating his own glass studio, Blue Sky Glass, since 2002 in which he creates unique glass sculptures and elegantly designed objects for the home and commercial decor.

Sam fell in love with glass as a child while visiting the Corning Glass Museum. He went on to study at the Rochester Institute of Technology’s School of American Crafts, earning a Bachelor's Degree of Fine Art in Glass Sculpture and Glass Blowing in 2004.
He has also studied at the Corning Museum of Glass Studio, More Fire Glass Studio, and the Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina.

After graduating from the School of American Crafts, Sam moved south to Birmingham, Alabama to blow glass at Bear Creek Glass, where he is currently the Hot Glass Studio Coordinator, Lead Gaffer, and a Teaching Instructor. Since moving to Alabama in 2004, Sam has been sharing his unique glass art sculptures and designs with the local community in various galleries, shows, and collections. Recently, he was commissioned to create a sculpture for the Balch and Bingham Law Firm for their Conference Room Lobby in the Harbert Building. Sam is also a weekly fixture at the Pepper Place Farmers Market.

In 2007, Sam set up an educational program at Bear Creak Glass. He is also involved with the Junior Patrons of the Birmingham Museum of Art and the Birmingham Art Collective, which helps to promote contemporary art while giving young artists an opportunity to share their art with the public. Sam also helped the University of Montevallo set up a hot glass studio, giving many of the Montevallo students their first ever experience with molten glass. In 2009, Sam will have a solo show at Samford University, and another solo gallery show in New York at St. Bonaventure University in conjunction with the 2009 Glass Art Society Conference in Corning, NY.
"Molten hot glass mimics the rhythmic flow of life as one must continually listen to the past, foresee the future, and transform in the movement of now."
